Mr. President,
Thailand remains seriously concerned about the deteriorating situation in Syria and violations of human rights given the intensification of attacks, particularly against civilians and medical facilities. Humanitarian access remains of utmost importance.
In this regard, Thailand encourages continued cooperation with the United Nations and international organizations on humanitarian work and recommends that concrete measures be made to facilitate and ensure access to humanitarian assistance especially for affected civilians and vulnerable groups in conflict areas.
Thailand also recommends measures be undertaken to ensure respect for basic rights for the people, such as rights to food and safe drinking water, as well as welfare, such as health care, during the time of conflict.
Lastly, Thailand calls upon all parties in Syria to exert their utmost effort and engagement with the international community in order to reach peaceful and sustainable solution, and end the destruction and violence.
I thank you, Mr. President.
