Mr. President,

Thailand welcomes the delegation of Azerbaijan.

We applaud the efforts to develop transparent, accountable and efficient public services to advance human rights and the SDGs, for example the “ASAN Service”.

We commend the Government for taking steps to promote gender equality and human rights training for public officials and judges.

We welcome the efforts to improve prison conditions and treatment of prisoners including women, taking into account the “Bangkok Rules” and “Nelson Mandela Rules”.

Thailand recommends the following for Azerbaijan’s consideration:

First, to expedite the formulation of the law on the rights of persons with disabilities, based on the recommendations from the CRPD and with civil society participation.

Second, to take further steps to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, taking into account the recommendations from the Working Group on Business and Human Rights.

Thank you.
