Statement by the Delegation of Thailand
by Mr. Sasiwat Wongsinsawat
Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Thailand
at the Review of Cuba
during the 30th Session of the Working Group on the UPR
on Wednesday, 16 May 2018, 14:30-18:00 hrs.
(Speaker Number: 87 / Speaking Time: 50 seconds)
Mr. President,
Thailand commends Cuba for its progress on the right to health through improved access to health care and health education.
We congratulate Cuba for achieving the decline in child mortality rate and for becoming the first country to have eliminated mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis.
As Thailand’s Minister of Public Health recently attended the Cuba Health 2018 Convention, we look forward to furthering our cooperation to promote the right to health and universal health coverage.
Thailand recommends the following:
First, to continue to work towards the full realization of the right to food by implementing the National Plan for the Prevention and Control of Anemia, especially among children.
Second, to further enhance the implementation of all ILO Conventions to which Cuba is a State Party.
Thank you, Mr. President.
