On 30 June 2026, at the 16^th session of Trade and Development Commission, Ambassador Usana Berananda, as a Co-chair of the the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on E-commerce and the Digital Economy, presented the report of the 9^th Session of the IGE on E-commerce and the Digital Economy to the Trade and Development Commission.  The Meeting, under the theme “Strengthening fiscal revenues in developing countries in the context of e-commerce and digital trade” highlighted fiscal revenue challenges and opportunities in the digital economy and digital solution for tax administration.  The Meeting also underscored the importance of international and regional cooperation as well as continued research, policy dialogue and technical assistance of UNCTAD in helping Member States to bridge the capacity gaps and strengthen the readiness of developing countries to use taxation effectively in the area of e-commerce and digital trade.
