H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak participated in a discussion “The UPR as a Problem-solving Tool – Closing the Technical Cooperation Gap" during the 42nd session of the UPR Working Group

On 31 January 2023, H.E. Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, participated in a discussion entitled “The Universal Periodic Review as a Problem-solving Tool – Closing the Technical Cooperation Gap", on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the UPR Working Group.

Exchanges during the discussion focused on sharing best practices and experiences in utilizing UPR mechanism to advance both human rights and the development agenda, and how different UN agencies could engage in the realization of UPR recommendations at the country level.

Amb. Srimaitreephithak recounted how Thailand became the 1st country in the Asia-Pacific to adopt a National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.  She also assured the meeting of Thailand's readiness to work with all stakeholders to implement accepted UPR recommendations in a sustainable manner.
