On 30 April 2026, H.E. Ms. Usana Berananda, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva attended a coffee break reception during the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council 2026 hosted by the National Broadcast and Telecommunication Commission of Thailand (NBTC) to promote Thailand’s candidature to the ITU Council for the term 2027-2030. On this occasion, Clinical Professor Dr. Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck, Chairman of the NBTC emphasized Thailand’s commitment to promoting universal connectivity and digital transformation. As a trusted partner of the ITU, H.E. Ambassador Berananda expressed Thailand’s readiness to extend full cooperation and supports in addressing emerging challenges in the telecommunications and digital landscape. Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin of the ITU, also delivered her remarks, highlighting Thailand’s constructive role and contribution as a partner in advancing digital cooperation within ITU framework.
