at the Review of Saudi Arabia

during the 31^st Session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review

Mr. President,

Thailand welcomes the delegation of Saudi Arabia to the third UPR cycle. We commend several positive steps, in particular the efforts to promote greater gender equality and protect the rights of specific groups, such as children, women, persons with disabilities, older persons, as well as migrant workers.

Thailand recommends Saudi Arabia to further promote the empowerment of women and the protection of their rights through the full implementation of the Saudi Vision 2030 based on the principle of equality between women and men, as well as to further promote women's equal participation in all spheres of the society.

We also recommend Saudi Arabia to take appropriate and concrete measures to protect the rights of migrant workers from discrimination and exploitation, guarantee fair and equal wages, and improve their working and living conditions.
