Statement by the Delegation of Thailand

Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative

at the Review of People’s Republic of China

during the 31st Session of the Working Group on the UPR

on Tuesday, 6 November 2018, 09:00-12:30 hrs.

Mr. President,

Thailand welcomes the delegation of China to the third cycle of the UPR.

Thailand applauds China’s commitment to promoting and protecting human rights, especially through constructive dialogue and multilateral cooperation.

Thailand welcomes the progress made in poverty reduction and people-centered development.

Thailand commends China for promoting human rights education and training among youth and law enforcement officers.

Thailand recommends the following for China’s consideration:

First, further enhance international cooperation in the field of human rights and the SDGs, including through technical cooperation and capacity-building and South-South cooperation.

Second, continue efforts to develop measures to eliminate discrimination against persons with disabilities pursuant to the CRPD.

We wish China every success in this UPR.
